My name is James Smith. My content area is history and I intend on teaching on the secondary level. I have been placed at Lee Middle School in San Angelo, Texas. There I will be student teaching 8th grade U.S. History with Mr. Stephenson.
The top three roles of a teacher that I think are important are the disciplinary teacher such as being able to control the classroom environment, the acting teacher by maintain the teacher's composure regardless of what happens, and the educator by getting the lesson across to the students so that they understand it. Being able to control the classroom is important because a teacher must be able to prove to the students that they are in charge and that they need to listen what they have to say, even though some don't. If a teacher is unable to control the classroom, it will be an uphill battle for the teacher to get anything across to their students, in another word it would be chaos. Maintaining the teacher's composure is also important because when events occur that challenge the teacher's position in the classroom the teacher must be the teacher and as previously mentioned, be in control of the class. Lastly, the teacher must be able to get their lesson across to the students because the students won't be able to learn anything if the teacher is unable to get their lesson across. All three of these top three roles of a teacher are inter-related with each other because in order for the teacher to be successful the teacher must be able to control the classroom, maintain their composure, and getting their lesson across to their students.
I look forward to student teaching this semester and after the first day is over and done with I have a more positive outlook to this career field and I see myself as a teacher in a similar environment in the near future.
As the pictures suggest, I am a New England Patriots fan and enjoy watching WWE wrestling. This is pretty much all that is needed to know for this posting.
I look forward to hearing from you and replying to your blog posts.
Have a Great Day.
